Jim’s recruiting background consists of 25+ years of nationwide, executive level placements. Herd Freed Hartz clients range from Amazon to Zillow. He is deeply involved in CEO, CFO and Heads of Technology searches.

Prior to co-founding Herd Freed Hartz in 2001, Jim worked at RealNetworks (RNWK) and was responsible for their executive level hiring. He is also the co-founder of the RealNetworks Alumni Organization. Before RealNetworks, Jim worked as a Senior Associate for a boutique retained search firm. Jim began his recruiting career working for a regional search firm specializing in Northwest based high-tech companies where he led its Executive Search division. He is also a member of the Seattle Vistage Trusted Advisors group.

Jim earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Industrial Organizational Psychology from Western Washington University.

He lives in Issaquah with his wife and three children.

Outside of work, you will most likely find him playing his guitar or riding his Harley.

Favorite activity outside of work

I spend the majority of my spare time playing guitar and writing the next big hit in my home studio that no-one will ever hear.  Well, maybe my neighbors heard a few, sorry.
