Our Herd Freed Hartz executive search team was honored to partner with Yakima Valley Community Foundation on a retained executive search to find their new President & CEO.
Yakima Valley Community Foundation is a growing 501(c)(3) philanthropic organization established in 2003. They serve the Yakima Valley and surrounding rural Central Washington communities, which are rich in natural resources and diverse cultures, all with a strong reliance on the land and water for economic prosperity and survival.
Yakima Valley Community Foundation has three primary areas of focus: quality education, health & well-being, and civic vitality.
They believe people in the Yakima valley should have equitable access to opportunity to create a community that is stronger economically, healthier physically and mentally, and better prepared educationally to meet the challenges we face.
They focus our work on education, health, and civic engagement by creating access to opportunities for those who have been historically and frequently left out or left behind.
Yakima Valley Community Foundation believes they have a responsibility to understand our impact by raising issues, questioning systems and decisions, and addressing policies and practices that may be well-intentioned and meant to work for all, but may in practice leave some members of our community behind.
In a recent interview with the Yakima Herald-Republic, Erin Black shared “I want to help to be a connector in the work that we’re doing. We hope to really bring a variety of voices of people who can build solutions for some of the issues we’re wanting to deal with in our community, whether they’re emergent needs related to some of the devastating fires that we’ve had, or if we’re talking about long term, sustainable change.”
